Finn Stevenhagen is a filmmaker and installation artist who uses computer animation, scenography and animatronics to explore humanity through fictional narratives. The quality and presentation of the narratives are dictated by their themes as the mediums shift with the characters.
Characters, who take on the form of disembodied floating mouths and digital humans, inherit empathy through the fidelity of their animator. As artificial forms, these characters are pushed to encounter the limits of what emotions their bodies can perform. By juxtaposing a character's limited ability of expression with their desire to do just that, Finn presents clearly artificial depictions of humans as closely to their real counterparts.
In 2022, Finn Stevenhagen was given an honorary award in the Computer Animation category of Prix Ars Electronica for the short film ‘When fox and rabbit say goodnight.’ and which has since been screened in the Netherlands, Latvia, Romania, Turkey, Hong Kong and the USA. In 2023, he became an artist member of Pulchri Studio, The Hague, NL.
